29. Große Brandenburger Kanuregatta came to a successful end

After a two-year break from competitions at the Brandenburg regatta course due to corona, the regatta team Brandenburg Beetzsee e.V. organized a competition for the first time again with the Great Brandenburg Canoe Regatta.

A general trial, which ran very successfully for the 50-strong team of helpers around club leader Uwe Steinhäuser. Despite difficult conditions with waves and strong winds, especially on Sunday, all races were held successfully.

A total of 360 athletes from 46 clubs from eight German states as well as two clubs from Denmark took part in the races. Start announcements were therefore made in German and in English. In 76 finals between 200 m and 5,000 m the winners were determined. For spectators, the 3 G rule applied with free entry. The volunteer fire department from Göttin supported with food from the goulash canon.

The first race of the canoeists in 2021 is also the last for this year. The season will also start in 2022 with the Great Brandenburg – it is planned for the beginning of May, if the Brandenburg Handling Ordinance permits. This will be followed in mid-May by the International Brandenburg Cup, featuring athletes from the youth and junior ranks. At the end of August, the annual highlight will take place with the hosting of the German Championship at the Brandenburg regatta course.
